[Satellite TODAY 08-25-09] Iridium Satellite has been contracted to provide
satellite phone service to motorists on the Canadian Trans-Labrador highway
for the government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Iridium announced Aug. 24.

Iridium will furnish the 950-mile stretch of highway with a solution to
replace and upgrade previous communications services that cover the region.

Through a government program, local hotel operators will offer Iridium
phones as loaners to motorists traveling along the highway. The phones will
be pre-programmed to direct calls to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary,
which will coordinate any necessary emergency responses directly or through
the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Roadpost, a distributor based in Ontario, is supplying the program's
Iridium 9555 satellite phones and services through its dealer, Newfound
Mobility Solutions.

Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.
